Evann Guessand's 90th-minute goal secured a 1-0 victory for Crystal Palace over 10-man Wolves to ease the uncertainty surrounding manager Oliver Glasner's future.
Substitute Guessand swept home Tyrick Mitchell's cut-back for his first Palace goal after Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci had been sent off for two bookings in three minutes on the hour mark.
The goal clinched only a second win in 16 games for Palace in all competitions and came after Dean Henderson saved a Tolu Arokodare penalty in a poor first-half display from the hosts.
Guessand's winner lifted the mood at Selhurst Park, where earlier fans had displayed banners reading 'opportunities missed - board inept' and 'fans disrespected - Glasner finished' following the manager's comments in his pre-match press conference.
The Eagles boss had told fans to "be humble" after some turned on him during Thursday's 1-1 draw against Zrinjski Mostar in the Conference League. His reception was mostly positive as he made his way off at Selhurst Park, but there were humorous chants of "one-nil to the humble boys" from the home fans.
Yeremy Pino missed Palace's best chances of the first half, scooping wastefully from a poor Yerson Mosquera backpass, then scuffing a shot against the post from a corner, but Wolves had the better of it, with Arokodare and Mosquera going close from corners.
The visitors then had a golden chance to go in front when Adam Wharton fouled Matheus Mane for the penalty, but Henderson went the right way and held Arokodare's weak spot-kick.
Despite that boost, and Krejci's second yellow card, given for kicking the ball away having caught Ismaila Sarr only three minutes and 16 seconds earlier, Palace continued to struggle, until Guessand came off the bench to make himself the hero of the day.
The on-loan Aston Villa forward's well-taken goal puts Palace on 35 points, 10 points clear of the drop zone, and condemns bottom side Wolves to their 20th Premier League defeat of the campaign.

"There were a few boos and there was a banner. That's completely fine. But I will always say what I think, what I believe. I think I never disrespected anyone.
"This is why I disagree, because everybody who knows me has a huge respect for everyone, regardless of their position, regardless of their skin colour, regardless of their religion, regardless of everything.
"The fans can be disappointed, absolutely. We are disappointed. We are frustrated. And I think I'm the one most of all because I'm so ambitious.
"I want always more and more and more. And I said to the players, I think maybe I pushed too hard. And I take this criticism.
"If the fans feel disrespected, they feel it. I didn't mean to disrespect anyone. Then it was maybe the wrong words taken.
"But on the other side, I will always say what I think is right, and I'm telling this to my children maybe weekly.
"Stay humble. Never forget where you're coming from.
"If somebody felt to be disrespected, then I want to say sorry because I never want to disrespect anyone."
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson speaking to Your Site:
"Huge with all the noise around us at the moment. It was nervy but it was a huge three points.
"It was a big moment before half-time but that's my job and that's what I'm there to do. It's about momentum and confidence, we needed an injection of that and got it today.
"100 per cent. It's a big week for us, if we can get the win on Thursday [Conference League]."
Wolves boss Rob Edwards, speaking to Your Site:
"It is two defining moments; we missed the penalty, which can happen, and then the red card is inexplicable.
"We were brilliant with 11 men and were really solid with 10. We switch off for one moment and come away with nothing.
"In the end, as a group, we will own it and take it. There is a lot underneath that we can learn from. There was so much good there, for the main part of the game, we were the better team."
On Krejci's red card, Edwards added in his press conference: "He's got to learn. It's frustration but he can't do it. He's been brilliant for us but that cost us. I can't defend it."
