The latest news around British men's tennis No 1 Jack Draper.

Draper is set to defend his BNP Paribas Open title at Indian Wells from March 4, a year on from beating Holger Rune in the final after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals.

The Brit, seeded 14th this year, will begin his campaign in the second round against the winner of the match between Hungary's Fábián Marozsán and Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut with third seed Novak Djokovic a potential last-16 opponent.

Draper currently sits 14th in the ATP singles rankings, having reached a career-high No 4 last year.

He slipped out of the world's top 10 in early January and dropped further down the rankings following the conclusion of the Australian Open.

Draper made public that he had hired Andy Murray's former coach Jamie Delgado ahead of the 2026 season, with James Trotman taking a back seat.

Under Trotman, Draper won three ATP Tour titles, including the Masters 1000 crown in Indian Wells in March, while he made his major Grand Slam breakthrough by reaching the semi-finals of the US Open in 2024.

Delgado is best known for his work with Andy Murray, helping the Scot win a second Wimbledon title and end 2016 as world No 1,

"I'm super excited," Delgado told Your Site Tennis. "He's one of the up and coming players in world tennis and one of the few guys that can challenge Jannik [Sinner] and Carlos [Alcaraz] at the top.

"He's British as well, which for me makes it even more special. He's a great player, great boy and super exciting."

Before that, Draper picked up his first win in six months at the Davis Cup earlier in February as Great Britain swept past Norway in Oslo.

The British No 1 defeated Viktor Durasovic in less than an hour in the opening rubber but did not feature again.

Draper was returning after a lengthy period out due to an arm injury, with his previous match before the Davis Cup coming at the 2025 US Open.

Draper's breakthrough victory at Indian Wells in 2025 included a win over Carlos Alcaraz but he was unable to complete the Sunshine Double after defeat in his opening match in Miami to Jakub Mensik.

In Madrid, he became only the second Brit, after Andy Murray, to make the final of that tournament.

Draper missed out on a second Masters 1000 title as he lost to Casper Ruud after three gruelling sets but he did hit the top five in the world rankings for the first time.

Draper's third final of 2025 came in Doha in February, where he lost to in three sets.

In the Grand Slams in 2025, Draper retired against Alcaraz in the last 16 at the Australian Open, lost to , was beaten by at Wimbledon in round two and then withdrew from the US Open .
